Tooth repairs and replacements

repairing-and-replacing

Life can be hard on teeth and sometimes the damage is more than cosmetic. We draw on a range of expert techniques to repair damage and replace lost teeth, giving you back a smile to be proud of.

Composite resin restorations

Composite resin is the tooth-coloured material that’s used in bonding and to give white fillings. It can also be used for cosmetic purposes, for rebuilding chipped, damaged or worn teeth or improving the contour, shape or colouring. The good thing about using this material is that it’s quick and relatively affordable, since nothing has to be made or moulded by specialist contractors.

Crowns

For years, traditional crowns were used to strengthen teeth that were heavily filled, weakened or darkened due to root canal therapy. They used to leave teeth with a distinctive dark metal line around the base of the tooth, which we call a ‘blue halo’. Thankfully, modern crowns are made from porcelain and are so natural looking it’s virtually impossible to tell them apart from real teeth. If you have the old-style crowns, you’ll be amazed at the difference switching to porcelain can make.

Implants

With an impressively high success rate and a lifetime of more than 20 years, dental implants are the permanent alternative to bridges. As permanent replacements for your own teeth, they’re surgically placed into the jawbone, just like a natural tooth is held in place by a root. We can make implants for a whole jaw, or to provide something to anchor crowns, dentures or bridges to. We can also fit implants to replace single teeth. Implants are completely secure and can give you the confidence that’s sometimes lacking with dentures.
