PROCEDURE: RESTORATION OF TOOTH WEAR & EROSION
Accelerated tooth wear, worn out or worn down teeth and acid erosion are increasingly common. In this case a course of professional tooth whitening before bonding composite resin to the upper teeth was provided to put back the eroded enamel. The back teeth were built up to restore the wear which had occurred on the back teeth and give an even, strong bite.

This case is a perfect illustration of how orthodontics can influence a change in your profile. 80% of orthodontic cases worldwide are due to underdevelopment of the upper jaw (maxilla). By adjusting the maxilla we can allow space for the lower jaw to move downwards and forwards, creating a better profile and more comfortable jaw joints (temporo-mandibular joint).

As a matter of interest, this is what the teeth look like from the same case. You can see that in creating space to relieve the crowding, not only is the lower jaw more comfortably positioned, but the teeth look straighter too.

This 15 year old came to see me because she was concerned about her teeth not meeting together at the front. She was told to wait until she was 18 and then she would need surgery. We were able to treat her sooner and without having to have surgery.

The development of the bone is very noticeable here, the repositioning of the teeth allows the jaw to move down and forwards, helping to eliminate the ‘click’ that was present in their temporo-mandibular joint on the right hand side.

Full Cosmetic Dentistry Case
This is an example of a full cosmetic case demonstrating what cosmetic dentistry is able to achieve.
Achieving this result used a combination of white fillings, composite bonding, crowns and bridges. Regular hygienist visits were also provided to improve the health of the gums.
As you can see a dramatic change has been made to this patient’s smile and they are delighted with the final result.
